Calvin & Charity ::: Engaged!

I am so excited to share this engagement session with you all today! Charity is a fellow Chicago photographer so I was honored to do her engagement pictures! Ok maybe a little nervous too! That is pressure shooting another photographer:)All of that went away the second I met them though. One thing I noticed right away was how at ease they were with each other. The way he held her, the way they held hands, and just the way they interacted was full of comfort and totally natural. It is hard to explain, but that is the way most married couples are after being together for years. It just showed how Calvin and Charity are just meant for each other. I love that Calvin makes her laugh too! I think that is so important in a relationship and he had us both laughing in the shoot!  There are so many elements about this shoot that I loved including the location. I found this farm in Elgin and it worked out so well! I couldn’t narrow down favorites so it is a big blogpost today:)

Downtown Geneva Proposal

A few weeks ago, on the big season finale of the Bachelor, I couldn’t help but cry at the beautiful proposal. A few days later I cried watching Jim propose to Pam on the Office during my office marathon. This means one of two things is true. Either I am really emotional or I love proposals. Ok both is true but I love proposals!! I love the excitement, the planning and secrets, and the moment the girl realizes she is getting to spend forever with her man. So romantic!
When Jake contacted me a while back I was so excited! (Funny thing was I was watching the Bachelor when I got his email…obsessed much?) Anyway, he wanted to propose at Grahams 318 in downtown Geneva, which is such a cute place.So my friend Arielle and I played secret photographers while trying to snap the whole thing! It was hilarious trying to act like we were just taking pictures of each other or the restaurant when really I was taking pictures of Amanda and Jake! It was such a great moment to be apart of. I love that after the proposal, Amanda still didn’t know Jake hired a photographer and she just thought I was a creepy person who wouldn’t stop taking pictures! Afterwards, Jake surprised her again with having her family and his all meet upstairs. Here are the meltworthy pictures of the proposal!

Concordia Spring Formal 2013

It only took 4 years but I finally made it to Concordia University to visit my best friend Tegan! I do not know what took me so long, but I’m glad I finally made the trip! Tegan got me a ticket to their spring formal and what a blast we had. We hung out with Buluga whales and dancesdthe night away at the Shedd Aquarium. Here are a few pictures I took beforehand and then some instagram pictures from the dance!Also, it was so fun to hang out with one of my brides-to-be and her fiancé! Anyone remember Heather and Jacob from my surprise proposal last year?? I love that we have become friends since then!

New Music Giveaway!

For years I have been one of their biggest fans. Two of my good friends Kendel and Shep are super talented. She sings with the piano and he backs up with the guitar and drums. They are a brother sister team who have such a beautiful, unique sound. I have watched them perform and chase their dream since I was in highschool. After years of hard work and dedication they finally released their first CD!! I am so proud of them because this CD is amazing. Just to hear my favorite songs produced and playing in my car is so cool. I can’t even imagine what it is like for them. I don’t want to keep this music to myself so I am giving away a few of their CDs! Who doesn’t love free music? Especially when it is this good! Their music could be considered the indie Civil Wars. Kendel’s voice is compared to Regina Spector if you want to have a feel for what they are about! Check out some samples HERE.

Now how can you win your own copy?
First, go to the Kendel & Shep Facebook page and like them! Feel free to say hi too:)

Next leave me a comment saying you liked them and also who your current favorite musical artist is!

That isn’t too hard is it? I am giving away 4 copies so good luck! I can’t wait for everyone to fall in love with their music like I have!

If you want to go back and see a photoshoot I did with them a while back CHECK IT OUT
