Melting Pot Celebrations and Good Friends

“So walk across the street, or drive across town, or fly across the country, but don’t let really intimate loving friendships become the last item on a long to-do list. Good friendships are like breakfast. You think you’re too busy to eat breakfast, but then you find yourself exhausted and cranky halfway through the day, and discover that your attempt to save time totally backfired. In the same way, you can try to go it alone because you don’t have time or because your house is too messy to have people over, or because making new friends is like the very worst parts of dating. But halfway through a hard day or a hard week, you’ll realize in a flash that you’re breathtakingly lonely, and that the Christmas cards aren’t much company. Get up, make a phone call, buy a cheap ticket, open your front door. Because there really is nothing like good friends, like the sounds of their laughter and the tones of their voices and the things they teach us in the quietest, smallest moments.”

Southern Illinois Farm Engagement

The first time I met Mallory, I said “Hi I am Sabrina and I fall in holes.” We laugh about it now because I was such a dork back then (ok let’s be real I still am). I don’t remember how old I was, maybe 10, but from then on I had a big sister. Mallory and I spent so many hours together riding our horses, cleaning barns, being in 4-H and going to horse shows. She was a huge part of my teen years and we had so many good times. I remember back then talking about her someday wedding and I can’t believe that this is the year and I am photographing it! So crazy! I am so happy to see Mallory in love with such a good guy like Dan. He is a quiet farmer who knows how to make her laugh and he fits in perfectly with her life and love of animals. It was so fun driving to Southern Illinois to catch up and do their engagement photos. I love that we incorperated the tractor, horses, and crazy dogs:)

Courtney and Levi ::: Rustic, Lace Engagement

I am so excited to share this engagement session today! Everything came together so well from the location to the weather to this wonderful in love couple! Meet Courtney and Levi. You may have seen them on the blog before because I did a family session with them last fall. Their chemistry is amazing. I didn’t even have to pose these two because they were so at ease and in love, it just came natural. I am so excited for them to tie the knot in September. Courtney has such a good eye for details and I know it is going to be a beautiful day!

The Learning To Cook Journey

Before my trip to St. Louis, my aunt called and asked me if I could cook. I thought to myself that I don’t cook much because I am always working but that it can’t be that hard. So I told her that I could and it shouldn’t be a problem.
I soon realized though, I do not know how to cook. After a drama filled night with taco meat, cold chili, and a few other awkward attempts, I knew I needed help. So when I came home I told myself that practice makes perfect and that I will learn to cook. My goal is to make new meals twice a week. My friends have been so helpful this week and let me cook under their guidance. It has been fun trying new things! And both times it came out great! I wanted to share my cooking journey with you all because who doesn’t love food? I will try and get fancier using my own camera but here are my instagram snaps from my first week of learning to cook! By the end of it my goal basically is to become the Pioneer Woman. Look her up if you haven’t heard of her! Also if you have awesome recipes for me to try, please share!
