Gartner Family

As some of you may know I love Caribou Coffee. I don’t love the coffee(cuz I am not a coffee drinker) I just love the place and the hot chocolate.  Around here in Elgin there really isn’t much to do and the main hangout for my friends and I is the bou.  So going there all the time, I have sort of become a regular and have started getting to know the employees there. Over the past few months Steph and I have become good friends and now I can’t imagine Caribou without her! She is so sweet and she lights up the whole place! I am grateful to have a new friend out of it and she is just awesome:)

When Steph saw that I was doing sibling pictures for Mother’s Day, she loved the idea. It has been a hard few months for her family and she thought it was the perfect present for her mom. I thought it was awesome too that when they were younger they got pictures done every year, but stopped as they had gotten older.  Their mom was so surprised and I love that I got to be apart of that!

Schmidt Family

I have known Kayla for years and when she contacted me about pictures of her and her brother, I got so excited:)She is seriously the sweetest and it was fun meeting her brother as well! Hopefully you aren’t sick of all of these sibling sessions yet! I just love doing them so much! Kayla and Matt were fun to hang out with and we had gorgeous light. Robbe Sibling Shoot!

When my cousins were here for Easter, we were super sneaky during a family get together and went out to take some photos for their mom! Everyone was a great sport and I think we have some great shots!! I love the color in these and how they interacted was so fun! Kaldenberger Sibling Portraits

One of my favorite shoots to do are sibling shoots to surprise their mom or dad. I did a few for Mother’s Day this year and they were so great! It is the perfect gift to give parents and they are so surprised by it:)and I have to say when I hear about their Mom crying happy tears I know I did my job well.

So here is the first from the family shoots! These were a photographer’s dream siblings! They were so fun, happy, and loved each other!! They weren’t afraid to try my weird ideas and they would actually hug and put their arms around each other ( a difficult concept for some siblings !).  Happy brothers and their sister + ivy walls=a very excited me:)I hope their Mom loves them as much as I do!

Fighting Through Insecurity

“My dear friend Sabrina is also a very talented photographer. She knows how to bring the best out in her clients, me included. I’ve been a part of a photo shoot before, but I’ve never had my picture taken like Sabrina did yesterday. Sabrina has literally been begging me for months to let her take my pictures. She kept saying “trust me!” but I could never take the plunge. My insecurity mixed with how I constantly compare myself to other women made me cringe at even the thought of being one of Sabrina’s models. I mean hello-have you seen the photos of Brittany and Kelly, two of my beloved friends, on Sabrina’s blog? They are absolutely beautiful! But then in the echos of my heart I heard God whisper, You.are.beautiful. Those three words paired with Sabrina’s encouragement made yesterday such a life-changing experience. I know that sounds a little hokey, but it is so true. Sabrina’s encouraging words through out the shoot allowed me to let go of the fear of people “seeing” me.  This disease of insecurity has stolen so many friendships because I’m afraid of people seeing me. Of seeing what I’ve done to myself. But with every click of the camera, those fears one by one shed away. I’m in tears writing this because for the first time in years I feel lovely. I feel beautiful. I feel confident. Not because I’ve lost the weight that I need to, but because my heart is cleansed of the muck called insecurity. To Sabrina, all my heart can humbly utter is thank you.”
 
 
 
 

Wow!! I am so proud of Arielle and so thankful that a photoshoot can reach someone’s heart like that!!  This was taken from a blog post she wrote and I am in tears knowing that she felt beautiful. That is what I want! I wanted to share this with you to challenge you women and even men to step out of your comfort zone and to let go of your insecurities. You are beautiful and God has made you exactly the way you are!  Arielle’s confidence shined through her photos yesterday and she seriously looks radiant!
