Surprises, 21 years, and having the best friends ever!

My 21st birthday was the best one yet and a night I will remember for so long:)Seriously, it was such a good day!

Here is a recap:

I woke up and decided to go get my nails done. That is huge deal because I have had a lifelong habit of biting my nails. A few weeks ago I said I am done biting and I haven’t bit them at all! So it was so nice to be able to have my nails look pretty for once.

Then my amazing familia and I went to Olive Garden. Can you say breadsticks? yum:)

Later in the evening my brothers let me have a photoshoot with them. It was so special to me because it was the last time we were going to be together for a long time. Lots of life changes, more on that another day!

Here is the best part! My dear friends Arielle and Patrick said they were taking me somewhere and to just be ready. I knew something was up because a few of my other friends were acting weird and because my younger brother mentioned something on accident about a party. Arielle saved it by saying she just wanted dinner with the three of us. I didn’t think anything of it because we always do that. When I walked into TGI Fridays the hostess was smiling really big like she knew I was 21. Before I had time to think bout her smiling so big, I walk in and a huge group of people yell surprise!! Oh gosh cue the tears! I wasn’t expecting that at all and I wasn’t expecting all those people! So so wonderful!

The rest of the night was filled with laughter, presents, Justin Beiber cards and cds, and some alcohol:)You prob aren’t supposed to mention that on a blog but hey I had waited out 21 years of not touching that stuff. So it was fun to try different things.

I still get a lil teary thinking about all the people who came out on my birthday and who loved on me. Satan tends to tempt me into thinking that I am not worthy enough to be loved by people or makes me insecure thinking people don’t care about me. Not all the time but sometimes I struggle with that. Wed night left all of those fears and insecurities behind. I felt SO loved and so blessed to be surrounded by all of those wonderful people. And all the work they went to surprise me just warms my heart so much. So for those of you there, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It was a wonderful night and I am so grateful!!!

Here are a few pictures from the night. Nobody had a camera so they are just a few phone snaps:)

We are so excited:)

My girls!

On the left: Words can’t express how much Arielle means to me!  So so grateful for her!!

On the right: Arielle and Pat worked so hard to get everything worked out for me! Love them to pieces:)

And here is a preview from the boy’s shoot. I got in for a few and I love this one!

Tony | Navy Session

Hello blog world! Haven’t blogged in a while but I am back and have some great sessions to share!

The first is of my good friend Tony. I haven’t seen him in almost a year and a half because he went into the Navy and was serving in Guam. Well last week he was home for a few days and I got to see him! Before he came home, Tony’s sister and I thought it would be fun to take some shots of him in his uniform and then of the two of them! We battled crazy wind and a time crunch but I love how these turned out! One thing that Tony and I have in common is that we are goofy and love to laugh. The Navy didn’t take that out of him and you will see that in these:)

Tasty Thursday | Cappuccino Muffins

The other night for my college group, we had a music/coffee night. So I thought cappuccino mini muffins would be the perfect addition to the night and they were!! So here is the recipe and a few pictures to make you hungry:)

MUFFINS:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee granules
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

  • In a food processor, combine the spread ingredients; cover and process until well blended. Transfer to a small bowl; cover and
    refrigerate until serving.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. In another bowl, combine milk and coffee granules until coffee is dissolved. Add the butter, egg and vanilla. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full. Bake at 375° for 17-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks. Serve warm with espresso spread. Yield: about 14 muffins (3/4 cup spread).
You cannot serve these without the espresso spread!! So good!
ESPRESSO SPREAD:
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, cubed
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon instant coffee granules
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
Don’t these sound amazing? Have a great Thursday!

New Chicks On The Block

It all started with seeing a stack of library books on the table…. with titles such as “Raising Chickens For Dummies”. I called my mom and said heck now we are not getting chickens. She responded that it really wasn’t up to me and she wanted some.  And a few months later, 11 little chicks are here! I have to say, as much as I hate chickens, these little things are cute!! I even was sad when the 12th one died the day after we got it:(But thankfully the rest seem healthy. So yesterday my mom and I got together and took them out for an official photoshoot! They behaved perfect must have been practicing their poses:)
