Kendel & Shep Pt 1

I am sooooo excited about this blog post!! We shot it last fall and I can finally show all of you !

Meet two of my really good friends Kendel and Shep. This sister/brother duo are amazing! Kendel has the most beautiful, unique voice, and writes songs like it’s nobody’s business. Shep is the backup vocals and also the guitar, harmonica, and anything else player! He has also has written a few songs that are awesome ! I am seriously their biggest fan and it has been so cool over the past few years to watch them chase their dreams. With their first EP coming out soon, we did this shoot for some promo shots. They are also going on college tours this year, hence the nerdy glasses and books. But they rock those nerdy glasses and make them look so cool!! I have so many favorites, I had to break it up into two days! So check these two out and if you haven’t liked them on  Facebook, go HERE!

Meet the Fowlers

I have a few sessions from last fall I never blogged, all of which are so great, so I can’t wait to share! !

Dave and Shena contacted me last year about doing a family session ( which I will share later), and we also did a mini shoot for them as a couple ! They have been married since 2010 and wanted a few shots of them as a couple. I love these two so much. They have a lot of fun together and are so in love! I have known them for a while and it has been cool to see their love story play out. Dave is a drummer and Shena is a writer, so together they are so creative! and on top of that I am obsessed with Shena’s hair (you will be too when you see these pictures). And their little dogs came out too! What a cute little family!

It’s All In The Family Pt 2

Thursday already? Gosh where did the week go?! I meant to blog this earlier this week but with the craziness of my older brother leaving for Africa, I didn’t get a chance. Speaking of which, if you want to follow Nick’s adventure in South Africa for the next few months, check out his blog HERE!

This is the second part of my brothers’ shoot! Nate hates being in front of the camera but I managed to convince him to come for a few shots ( I think I may have guilted him by saying what if Nick dies in Africa you will regret not having these pictures…woops!). But these came out so good and I love them! I especially love the ones of the two of them near the end!

It’s All In The Family Pt. 1

Around my group of friends and family, you will hear us talk about Nick often. Whether it is a funny story, something he said, or reliving memories we had, everybody loves Nick. and I am so proud to call him my brother. (Why am I tearing up already writing the first three sentences of this?). I love his heart for the Lord and he has shown me what a truly Godly man looks like. He cares about so many people and has an insane amount of wisdom. Sometimes Nicholas will say one sentence to me that will be the advice I have always needed to hear. On top of all this he is so so funny and just a blast to be around.

As I right this, he is closing the door on apart of his life and moving on to big things. He graduated college in North Carolina and is now leaving the country. I get to see him today and tomorrow and Wed. he is on a plane to Africa. Crazy! His full time job doesn’t start til July, so he is taking the next 5 months to go serve in Africa. I am so excited and proud of  him !

Ok enough with the I love Nick fest, and on to some pictures. A few weeks ago, I asked my brothers to model for me because I never take pictures of guys! All three of them came and it was such a fun time:)So here is pt 1 of the brother’s shoot where Nick is trying out his modeling skills! I think he did pretty well:)

My anti-resolution gospel centered New Year

Ah it’s that time on Dec. 31st where everyone reflects on the past year and gets excited for the next. I like watching people get pumped for their future and put their dreams into action. I like that January 1st feels like a clean slate. For me 2012 feels good. 2009 a lot of junk and changed happened (which I do not handle well) I graduated high school, my brother moved away, my friend died, a big breakup happened, my circle of friends completely changed, etc.  I spent 2010 and the majority of 2011 dealing with all that happened. Even though I wouldn’t take back all I learned in those dark times, I feel like the cloud has been lifted and I am ready to live:)

Now I am not a fan of New Year’s resolutions, not that there is anything wrong with them it just isn’t great for me. I have these great expectations and pressure on myself and when I don’t end up doing them, I want to write failure on my forehead. and I know this is common for alot of people. If you ask someone in April how that resolution is going they probably can’t even remember what they resolved to do. So why set myself up for that disappointment? Now that doesn’t mean that there aren’t things I want to do or improve on. In fact, I think I should continually be looking at myself and seeing what changes I can make. That is apart of growth and growth is good! But I think this should be done all year and not just go crazy on January 1st. There are so many things I want to work on :

Be more organized ( I have been called a hoarder too many times)

Stop biting my nails

Be wiser with my money

Be healthier

Be a better businesswoman

Make more time for friends

Stop losing so many bobby pins

Read more & watch less tv

Visit my grandma more

These are all things that I want to work on this year and every year. But I don’t want to make them resolutions and make it an all or nothing situation.

There is one thing I want my 2012 to be about: Jesus. I want this day. week, year of the rest of my life to be completely dedicated to my Savior. and to Him I owe every part of my life. I want to be joy filled and give glory in all that I do. I want the cross to be a central part of my life. The gospel and Jesus Christ is everything. Jesus died on the cross for me and I am completely forgiven and clean.Nothing else matters and I am going to live my life like that. Jesus give me purpose, freedom, and love that cannot be found anywhere else. I am in  a season of growth and alot of learning about my King and I am excited. I am no idea what will happen this year but I my hands are open and my lips say “Your will be done in me ”

“Resolution One: I will live for God. Resolution Two: If no one else does, I still will.” Jonathan Edwards
“The cross before me the world behind. No turning back, raise a banner high. Its not for me, its all for You.” Here is to 2012. Let us live in love and may our hearts be on fire for His kingdom:)
