Dan & Kali ::: Fishermen’s Inn Wedding

“Part of being a married couple means that you create a new identity together, woven from your experiences and histories and lives. You will cry together, laugh together, pray and dance and move furniture together. You will learn and unlearn things, make a home together, hurt each other’s feelings without meaning to, and sometimes very much on purpose. You will learn over time that the heart of marriage is forgiveness. You will learn in the first six months how much forgiveness he requires, and then you will realize, in the six months after that, just how much forgiveness you yourself need. Work hard to become your own family, with your own values and traditions, things you always do, things you never do, things that bring you back to why you fell in love in the first place. Dance to your song in the backyard, wear your wedding shoes every anniversary. Carve out your own history together, little by little, month by month, year by year. Because there will be seasons that are as dry as deserts, and the history of your love for one another will be the water you need to bring new life and growth, turning that season from dust to garden once again.”
— Shauna Niequist

Dan and Kali started that new journey a few weeks ago and I am so excited to share some images from their wedding! They have been through so much together and are the best of friends and I know this day was so special for the both of them and all around! Their wedding took place at one of my favorite venues, Fishermen’s Inn. There is so much character there and I love all of the details that Kali incorporated!

1 Year Safe Haven Anniversary

Warning: this will be a very mushy post.

I can’t believe today marks the 1 year anniversary of living with two of my best friends. We embarked on this adventure 365 days ago and I cannot even believe the year we have had. The weeks leading up to moving out, I was very emotional. I had always lived under my parents roof and I am never very good with change. But the second I moved in, I didn’t cry about the transition again and it was amazing.

There aren’t words to put what these girls mean to me. They are my team, the sisters I’ve never had, my support system and my best friends. We dubbed our house to be our Safe Haven. A place where we could get away, find peace, and find comfort in the midst of crazy lives. I can say that it became that for us. These girls see the sides of me that not many see. The not so pretty, bed head, times when I am just crabby. The me who drinks all of their kombucha or leaves the bathroom a mess and laundry in the basement. And yet they give me grace and still continue to love me which is a beautiful thing.

In our first year we have had the good times. The nights FULL of laughter. The kind of laughter that makes your stomach hurt, the kind when you fall off the couch from laughing so hard and when tears are streaming down your face. We are always laughing.

They learned that I am the definition of a hot mess. Like when I smoke up the kitchen, hit the house with my car, fall down the stairs, pop a tire, and spill everywhere. We learned that in these moments, I am the wreck, Cait laughs at the ridiculousness of the situation, and Lauren saves the day EVERY TIME.

We watched our other best friend marry the love of her life and stood up next to them as they pledged forever. Then we celebrated and it was a day we will never forget.

They were there from the very first days of my love story. They would help me write texts to Josh in the early days and analyze every word he wrote to me. They talked down my nerves on my first date with him and saw me starry eyed after that first kiss. They are still there now helping me navigate the newness of having a relationship that I prayed hard for so long.

Then there have been the hard times, the times I didn’t even expect in the first year. God knew though and I am so thankful I don’t have to go through alone. They were there when I left my job and would come home crying because it was so difficult to leave and even months after to deal with it. They were there when I had to give my beloved dog back up for adoption and I couldn’t bring myself to bring her back. They were there for me when I was just plain emotional and needed a cry (which happens quite often). We were there for each other in health problems, family hurts, and growing times.

We bonded over house problems. Like the flood of 2015, the mice problem, or that time we didn’t have a working shower for 3 weeks. We have also had our share of “interesting” neighbors too which keep our lives entertained.

We fight for each other in the battles, hold each other in hard times, and laugh and dance through the happy moments. I am SO thankful for the journey we have been on and I cannot wait to see the memories that will be created over our next year together! Here are some of our favorite moments over the year!

Lisa Miller - Lovely words, Sabs, & very lovely ladies. I almost cry every time I see pictures of all of you, because you are each blessed with a very special relationship that is quite rare for women. I’m SO thankful that you each see it, recognize it for the God-gift that it is, & treasure it. Thank you for being there for my sweet Cait….words cannot describe the treasure she is to me.

And now, we continue to pray & wait for God to bring a Godly man into Cait’s life & a Godly man into Lauren’s life; men who will love them as Christ loves, cherish them as the treasure they each are, & love their friends & family as much as these ladies do. I love all 4 of you young women & am blessed to know you.

Kyle & Krystal ::: Reiser Farm Southern Illinois Wedding

I have been looking forward to this wedding for months! I am a country girl at heart and love all things rustic and southern. So when I first met with Kyle and Krystal and heard their vision, I was like a kid on Christmas. Not only did I fall in love with their wedding dream, I thought they were such a perfect match and had me laughing so much. Their wedding was full of family ties and sentimental moments and those are some of the best parts of weddings.

We started their day with the first look!

Cape Cod ::: 2015 Family Vacation

It is the place that holds such a special place in my heart. We have been going to Cape Cod since I was a kid and I try to go every year if possible. It used to be the whole family but in the past few years with schedules and life changing, it has been impossible to have a family vacation at the Cape. But this year, when my brother sent an email trying to get us all there on one date, my heart could have burst with excitement. So we picked a date and managed to get 5 out of the 6 Nohlings to come. Maybe next year we will be 6 for 6:)But this year was also special because we added 2 new faces to our clan. My older brother Nick started dating Robyn earlier this year and I could not wait to meet her. I can’t say enough good things about her and I am so thankful my brother is dating someone so amazing. We bonded over so many things and it is good to have a girl in the midst of having 3 crazy brothers. I also brought my sweet man and I can’t tell you how fun it was to have him spend a few days with my family. My heart is full after all of the laughter and bonding time we had. So here is some of our trip!!!
2015-08-27_0005.jpg

Everyone got to the Cape at different times and Josh and I flew in early Sunday to Boston. We are in that stage of the relationship when everything is fun and new so we loved getting to fly together for the first time! We grabbed some brunch in Boston at this cute place.

First Look Testimonial ::: Casey

“When Molly proposed the idea of a “first look” to me, I was very skeptical. I had never heard of this being done at a wedding and I always thought it was tradition for the groom to first see his bride in all of her splendor as she walks down the aisle to him. For awhile, I was not very open to the idea and actually sort of opposed to it. Mainly, I ended up agreeing to it because Molly explained to me that it would allow for a lot of pictures to be taken before the wedding ceremony. More reluctantly than not, I agreed to do it.

Then came the wedding day.

From the minute I woke up, my chest began pounding. It takes a lot to unnerve me, but the feeling that I had when I woke up on my wedding day was that of pure nervousness and excitement. I already couldn’t wait to see Molly. As the day went on and preparations were taking place, I grew gradually more nervous by the hour. Getting ready with all my groomsmen, taking some pictures, and getting ready – it was all building up to being able to see my beautiful bride the first time2015-08-24_0001.jpg

2015-08-24_0002.jpg
“It was time.”
2015-08-24_0003.jpg

I was informed that it was time for the first look to take place.  My heart started pounding even harder, which at that point I didn’t even think was possible.  My brother, and best man, had to slip me some of his anti-nausea medication before I took the stroll outside to the spot where I would meet my bride.  I was put in position with my back facing the path that Molly would walk down to meet me.  My heart beating completely out of my chest at this point, I waited for what seemed like an eternity, anxiously wondering when I would hear her call for me.

2015-08-24_0004.jpg

“Then it happened.

All of a sudden, I heard the voice of the one I was to meet at the altar that day. “Hey Case…” Upon hearing her voice, tears immediately began rolling down my face. I slowly turned around to meet my bride face-to-face. I stood there, gawking at the woman who I was to marry that day. She was more radiant and beautiful than I could’ve ever imagined. We shared our first few moments as bride and groom, shedding tears together, embracing and reading our vows to one another, all within the comfort and intimacy of just each other. All of my nerves were swept away by the sight of her. It was one of the most intimate moments that we have ever shared, and one experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.”
